The spring market is hurtling towards us (though it may not look like it here in Minnesota). The spring market doesn’t just mean a change in seasons. It brings with it a huge change in the market- a large influx of buyers, increased buyer competition, and a huge increase in inventory. If you’re considering selling your home this year, NOW is the time to start that process. You don’t want to miss out on the energy of the spring market. Whether your home is already on the market or you are still considering the process, here are a few tips to get your home ready for the spring market that will help your home sell faster and for more.
TIP 1: PAY ATTENTION TO CURB APPEAL. The outside of your home is the very first thing that potential buyers will see. Do not make the mistake of neglecting the outside of your home. As the spring thaw begins, clean up your yard, clean out your gutters, add some planters, clear your driveway etc. You can even paint your front door a fun color to help your home stand out!
TIP 2: PAINT YOUR HOME ONE NEUTRAL COLOR. I say this ALL the time! A home that is painted in a calm and neutral color gives your home a modern and clean feel, as well as makes your home flow. Choose a nice neutral grey, off-white, or light beige for example. If you’re not sure what shade of paint to use, ask your local paint store what is most popular and go from there!
TIP 3: DECLUTTER YOUR ENTIRE HOME. A decluttered home is a happy home. Not only does it make your home feel cleaner and bigger; but decluttering helps potential buyers more easily picture themselves inside your home. Donate all that extra junk or have a garage sale. Spring cleaning for the win!
